Georgiann Hinchcliffe Toole, who resides in Shepherdstown, WV, has worked with choirs of all ages, as a singer, section leader, soloist, accompanist, teacher, conductor, clinician, adjudicator, arranger, and composer. Holding an MM in Choral Conducting from Shenandoah University and a Ph.D. in Music Education from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, she is an award-winning professor emerita at Shepherd University. She has written extensively for WMV, including the arrangements for the recording of music from the Shenandoah Valley settlers, 'They Brought Christmas with Them'. WMV presented a full concert of her works in 2016, and premiered 'Critters' in Spring 2023.
Inspired by the community spirit of choral musicians and audiences, Georgiann’s composition is motivated by her own experience of music’s power to cultivate understanding and connection between people. She also loves gardening, history, cooking, and traveling. And dogs!
