Melody is a retired public school music educator; Director of Music at First United Methodist Church, Winchester; and Chapel Choir Director at the Village at Orchard Ridge. After graduating from Shenandoah Conservatory of Music, she married her college sweetheart, Jim Harmon, former WMV singer and assistant director. She loved singing in Viva with him, and now sings with their son, Matt. Currently, she is a member and officer of the Beta Iota chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa (an international honorary organization for women educators), and the Winchester chapter of the American Guild of Organists, where she serves on their program committee. She 'sings' with the Piedmont Singers and 'rings' with the Apple Valley Ringers.

Melody enjoys playing water volleyball, dominoes, bunko, and card games (especially with her grandchildren, Eli and Daniella, and their parents, Matt and Renee).
