Walker Williams is a composer and singer from rural West Virginia. Walker holds a DMA in composition from the University of British Columbia (UBC), a MMus in composition from UBC, and a BA in music composition from Shepherd University.
Walker’s compositions have been performed throughout Europe and North America, including the US National Saxophone Symposium, the Alba International Music Festival, the Vancouver Sonic Boom Festival, and the Blackstad in Residence program (Sweden). Walker’s doctoral thesis composition Sprinkle Coal Dust on my Grave, an oratorio on the subject of the West Virginia Mine Wars, is scheduled to be premiered by the Shepherd University Masterworks Chorale and orchestra in April 2025.
As a singer, Walker has performed with the UBC University Singers, the Vancouver Chamber Choir, and the Shepherd Chamber Singers, as well as Winchester Musica Viva. Walker has performed alongside the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the UBC Symphony Orchestra, and sung at venues throughout North America and Europe, including Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
